Career Development Survey for General Service Staff – Coming Soon!

Managing our Organization’s talent and providing staff with the necessary tools to allow them to grow and maximize their potential to meet current and future professional challenges is key to our success.

Over the past months the Staff-Management Committee (SMC) Working Group on the Career Development of Staff in the General Service and Related Categories has been working on developing a survey to help identify, quantify and review issues related to the career development of staff in the General Service (GS) and related categories in the UN Secretariat.

In a few days, staff will receive the survey to their UN email inbox and are highly encouraged to participate.

Background
The Working Group on the Career Development of Staff in the General Service and Related Categories is composed of representatives from Staff Unions as well as from the Administration and reports to SMC. Its objectives are to identify and review issues related to the career development of staff in the General Service and related categories in the UN Secretariat; and to make recommendations to the SMC on opportunities that will enhance the career development of GS and related categories.

Why is your participation important?
Responses to this survey will be used to make recommendations to the Staff-Management Committee (SMC) on how to enhance opportunities for career development and advancement.  Once adopted, these recommendations will be integrated in a Secretary-General's Report expected to be submitted to the General Assembly at its 71th session.

Should you have any questions or comments, please contact your local Staff Council/Union representative.
