Accommodation Request Procedure

If you require assessment accommodations due to a disability or a temporary medical condition, please follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Complete the accommodation request form (available here) and send it to the Special Assessments Section upon receipt of your invitation. The completed form should be submitted no later than 30 days before the assessment. Contact details will be included in the invitation email. Do not submit any medical information at this stage.

STEP 2: After an initial review and depending on the nature of your accommodation request, you may be prompted to submit medical documentation to support your request. The medical documentation will be reviewed by medical professionals from the United Nations Health-care Management and Occupational Safety and Health Division ONLY and will be treated with strict confidentiality.

To ensure the timely processing of your request, we recommend that you have the following documentation available, which must be provided by a qualified physician:

  • the specific medical diagnosis;
  • the date of the diagnosis;
  • a short summary of the impact the disability or medical condition has on the candidates’ ability to take the test;
  • the recommended accommodation; and
  • credentials and signature of the medical professional rendering the diagnosis.

STEP 3: As each candidate’s situation is unique, the United Nations Health-care Management and Occupational Safety and Health Division will review each case individually based on the submitted documentation. The Health-care Management and Occupational Safety and Health Division will then recommend a reasonable accommodation to the Special Assessments Section, who will make the final decision and inform the candidate of the accommodation to be granted. Please note that the accommodation granted may differ from the candidate’s original request.
