An Induction Programme for Senior Leaders was held in New York from 6 to 13 June 2013 for the following participants:
- Mr. Tegegnework Gettu, USG for General Assembly and Conference Management;
- Mr. Stephen Cutts, ASG for the Office of Central Support Services in the Department of Management;
- Ms. Atefeh Riazi, Chief Information Technology Officer, ASG, Office of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Management.
The group was provided with briefings and opportunities for informal discussion with colleagues on topics including the UN Charter and Principal Organs; the Secretariat; Agencies, Funds and Programmes; the Secretary-General and his Executive Office; the Global Context and UN Challenges; Security; Human Resources; Budget and Finance; and Internal and External Communications.
During informal discussions, the Chef de Cabinet, Susana Malcorra shared her views on how senior leaders can support the Secretary-General’s vision, and offered insights from her own experience at the UN Secretariat.
Additional activities included a briefing on management and leadership in the UN as well as a guided tour of UN Headquarters.
In the coming weeks, programme participants will also benefit from one-on-one executive coaching, media training, and ethics guidance.
