Psychological First Aid

The purpose of the psychological first aid program is to equip natural helpers to provide psychological support to survivors of critical events (LMS-1227).

Audience: 
Staff at large. Recommended for all crisis responders (Security focal points, medical team, Zone wardens, Peer Helpers and HR officers)
Objectives: 
To identify the strategies, principles and components of PFA; To provide PFA in a manner that does no harm to the recipient; To identify the basic elements of effective crisis intervention; To identify their own strengths and challenges in the area of crisis intervention; To identify essential aspects of risk assessment that would indicate the need for professional intervention; To assist in understanding typical reactions to traumatic events, to protect one’s well-being
