Job titles are streamlined in inspira

An extensive project has been undertaken recently to review, streamline and associate job codes (titles) in inspira in order to respond to the current Human Resources needs of the Organization.

A major benefit of the exercise is the association of job codes for functions at the same level, category and job family. This will lead to the expansion of the number of pre-approved roster candidates related to similar functions at the same level and category, provided that the requirements and qualifications are also similar.

What does the association of job codes mean?

Each job title and job opening in inspira is linked to a numeric job code. A job code is defined by the job family, category and level of the job title.

Once the selection process is completed for a given job opening, the list of candidates endorsed by a Central Review Body (CRB/FCRB) is placed on the roster of the job code linked with that job opening. As a result of the association exercise, one job code may be associated to a number of other job codes at the same level, category and job family.

The following example shows the association of a number of job codes that are associated as part of the same roster pool.

Job Family: Public Information
My Roster Memberships: Chief of Section, Public Information, P-5
Associated Titles: Director, Information Centre, P-5
Senior Public Information Officer, P-5

What happens next?

These new developments are part of inspira enhancements that will be implemented in early November 2013.

How will this affect me as a staff member?

Roster Membership

Roster candidates, who can already check their roster membership through “My Career Tools” in inspira, will also be able to view their associated job titles, once this functionality becomes available in November 2013.

e-Performance documents

Please note that job titles in e-Performance documents will be reflected as “Temporarily unavailable” in inspira pending the completion of the position management project in the coming months. Consequently, staff members or the First Reporting Officers can include the functional title under the “Goals” or “End-of-Cycle Comments” section of the e-Performance document until the job title is reflected in the system.

What do I need to know as a hiring manager?

In the process of building a job opening, the hiring manager will continue to select a job code from a pre-approved list in inspira. Requests for the creation of new job codes may be submitted by the Executive Offices/local Personnel Offices to the Office of Human Resources Management.
