The purpose of public procurement is to obtain the best value for money. To do this it is important to consider the optimum combination of total cost of a purchase as well as its fitness for purpose. The total cost includes acquisition cost, maintenance and running costs, and disposal cost. The procurement is considered fit if it has the quality and ability to meet our requirements. At the end of this course, you will be able to: Describe the Best Value for Money (BVM) principle; Apply the BVM principle during the procurement process.
