Welcome to the Orientation Hub

Diverse group of people next to the "Orientation Hub" banner

This Hub includes sample content that is included in the "Global Orientation to the United Nations" (GO2UN) programme, which is being rolled out in phases throughout the UN Secretariat and is designed to provide a timely, consistent, informative, inclusive and inspiring experience for all those recently selected for a staff post, their first or latest.

The GO2UN Programme includes five main components:

  • Preboarding course for new recruits from time of selection helps them learn about the UN, job offer and office and prepare for arrival and settling in. Recruits receive an email with instructions on how to start.
  • Start Smart App for new recruit from first day on the job helps to get set up for success with an interactive checklist of tasks to do during the first six months. View 1-minute promotional video.
  • Buddy System for new recruit from time of selection to connect with an existing staff member to ask informal questions related to the context of the new post. An invitation to participate is in both in the Preboarding course and Start Smart app.
  • Welcome Ceremony for new recruit within first few months in the job allows the new staff member to be recognized in a global, hybrid event and commit to the values and behaviours of an international civil servant.
  • Toolkit for those who welcome new recruits inspires and enables current colleagues to apply ideas shared by other UN teams and access time-saving templates. The GO2UN Toolkit can be found on the UN Knowledge Gateway, an internal platform.
