United to Respect

Promoting dignity and respect in the workplace

Aligned with ST/SGB/2019/8, a policy on “Addressing discrimination, harassment, including sexual harassment, and abuse of authority”, the United to Respect initiative stresses that we all must be treated with dignity and respect, and all have a role and responsibility to ensure that.

You can make a positive difference

  • Complete the mandatory learning course, “United to Respect: Preventing Sexual Harassment and Other Prohibited Conduct”. Information on how to enroll is available on the mandatory learning page. Both staff and non-staff personnel can access this course.
  • Participate in the United to Respect Dialogues in English, French, or Spanish. Each session, in person or online, is co-led by colleagues certified to lead critical discussions and skill-building activities. Contact your HR Partner or Learning Team to find out how to join the next session
  • Explore the United to Respect Toolkit. An internal, just-in-time resource available in English, French, Spanish and Arabic that allows UN personnel to better understand and apply guidance found in ST/SGB/2019/8. This Toolkit can be found on UN Intranet iSeek, an internal platform.

Support our future workplace

  • Submit nominations for staff who are experienced as a facilitator or in Conduct & Discipline, Human Resources or dispute issues in the UN context. To do so, learn more and submit a nomination form found on the United to Respect page on UN Intranet iSeek, an internal platform.
  • Express interest in contributing to United to Respect 2.0: to update, enhance and sustain.
