Welcome to the Orientation Hub

First Day

Welcome to the Orientation Hub

As staff start their first day in a new job, we hope their new role will be a positive and rewarding experience. For those starting their first post with the United Nations Secretariat, today is their “Entry on Duty” (EOD) date.

Today or quite soon after, those new to the Organization will receive “Unite ID” log in credentials and a UN email address, which will be needed to start the GO2UN Start Smart App.

Several of the first “to do” tasks in the Start Smart app include content shared below.

Ask your supervisor or your HR Partner if your duty station has an in-person induction programme for new staff. It is a great way to meet others and start developing friendships.

There are several key platforms and applications that you will be expected to use:

HR Platforms

  • Umoja — submit leave, manage travel requests and other benefits; obtain a personnel action form and payslips.

  • Inspira — apply for jobs, manage performance management documents, and register for training. Requires separate log-in credentials.
