Summer Study Programme in China

Sponsored by the Chinese government, the UN Chinese Language Programme is offering, for the 15th year in a row, a three-week intensive summer study programme at Nanjing University in 2018. All students who are taking officially recognized Chinese classes offered at UNHQ and OAHs and have completed at least Level 2 are eligible to apply, but priority will be given to staff members, particularly those who have never participated. Tuition and housing are covered by the Chinese government and the international travel fees are the responsibility of the participants. Upon approval of their supervisor, particpating staff members in the Secretariat are eligible to receive Special Leave With Pay.

This short-term program is the ideal opportunity for students who want to learn and improve their Chinese language skills, explore China, and experience Chinese culture firsthand. Studying Chinese language and culture in China offers a unique experience. You will gain valuable insight about the Chinese people and culture by exploring the country and interacting with local Chinese students and scholars - an experience and knowledge that is possible only in China.

The programme dates are Monday, 9 July to Friday, 27 July, 2018. Classes are held Monday to Friday with a total of 4 hours per day and 20 hours per week.

Application starts on 1 February, 2018 and ends on 31 March, 2018. If interested, please email ho@un.org to request an application form.
