Sponsored by the Chinese government, the UN Chinese Language Programme offers a three-week intensive summer study programme at Nanjing University in China. All students who are taking officially recognized Chinese classes offered at UNHQ and OAHs and have completed at least Level 2 or equivalent are eligible to apply, but priority will be given to staff members, particularly those who have never participated. Tuition and housing are covered by the Chinese government and the international travel fees are the responsibility of the participants. Upon approval of their supervisor, particpating staff members in the Secretariat are eligible to receive Special Leave With Pay.
This short-term program is the ideal opportunity for students who want to learn and improve their Chinese language skills, explore China, and experience Chinese culture firsthand. Studying Chinese language and culture in China offers a unique experience. They will gain valuable insight about the Chinese people and culture by exploring the country and interacting with local Chinese students and scholars - an experience and knowledge that is possible only in China.
The programme typically runs in July. Classes are held Monday to Friday with a total of 4 hours per day and 20 hours per week.
Application usually starts in early February and ends in late March. If you have any questions or comments, please submit an inquiry.
