Sponsored by the Chinese government, the U.N. Chinese Language Programme is offering, for the 14th year in a row, a three-week intensive summer study programme at Nanjing University in 2017. All the students taking classes at the officially recognized Chinese classes offered at UNHQ and OAHs and have completed at least Level 2 are eligible to apply, but priority will be given to staff members, particularly those who have never participated before. Tuition and housing are covered by the Chinese government and the international travel is participants’ own responsibility. Upon the approval of their supervisor, staff members in the Secretariat can receive Special Leave With Pay.
This short-term program is the ideal opportunity for students who want to learn and improve their Chinese language skills, explore China, and experience Chinese culture firsthand. Studying Chinese language and culture in China offers a unique experience. You will gain valuable insight about the Chinese people and culture by exploring the country and interacting with local Chinese students and scholars—an experience and knowledge that is possible only in China.
The programme dates are Monday, 10 July to Friday, 28 July, 2017. Classes are held Monday to Friday with a total of 4 hours per day and 20 hours per week.
Deadline of application: 31 March, 2017. If interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to request an application form.
