Update on the first Annual Review for continuing appointments

Many eligible staff members who received e-mail notifications for the first Annual Review on continuing appointments have already completed the first part of the exercise. Any other potentially eligible staff should complete the Eligibility Checklist and if you meet the criteria, please contact your Executive Office or local Human Resources Office immediately to request inclusion in the review.

Human Resources getting ready for the deployment of Umoja

Set against a backdrop of increasingly scarce resources, the annual Human Resources Conference was re-purposed so that business readiness for the Umoja solution, a key reform initiative being gradually deployed in clusters across the UN Secretariat, was the primary focus this year.

The conference took place from 29 July to 2 August 2013 in Valencia, Spain due to the location’s pivotal role as the IT hub supporting the system’s deployment.

Rental Subsidies and Deductions - Revised Policy and Process

A new administrative instruction on “Rental subsidies and deductions” (ST/AI/2013/2), is now available which introduces a more streamlined process in addition to more specific eligibility requirements.

Various key changes have been established in advance of the increasingly automated procedures that Umoja is starting to bring as the new system is gradually implemented throughout the UN Secretariat.

The training, organized jointly by the Departments of Management, Peacekeeping Operations and Public Information, provides an overview of the principles of Project Management and Client Service, practical tips and interactive exercises.
