The sabbatical leave programme is open to all United Nations staff members with five years of service with the Secretariat with continuing, permanent or fixed-term appointments under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations. The purpose of the programme is to support staff in their growth to meet current and future professional challenges, and to maximize their potential by enabling them to take special leave with pay to conduct a research or study project.
The programme requires an application with a detailed outline about the proposed research or study project. Candidates must also secure agreement from their Head of Department/Mission/Office in order to apply. The deadline for applications for the 2018 sabbatical leave programme is 25 October 2017.
